On spontaneity

Why is it that we live one foot in the past, the other in the future and forget the present-ness - the spontaneity - of existence that invites all connection. Not least to ourselves? We yearn, it seems, to re-live happy memories in a past only to be poorly replicated by future attempts. In manufacturing experience we manufacture happiness, forgetting lightness (and in a literal sense that light: joy) in the process. To live lightly, freely, joyously, is to live with openness to the emergent possibilities of being. It is to accept and take an active role in the great project of becoming.
